The Drama Society on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus will be hosting a theatrical event on 20 October 2022 in the Great Hall.
The aim of this event is to showcase what the NWU Drama Society is all about. The society wants to make a long-term difference in the lives of students by addressing student life issues and bringing hope through their performances, and by encouraging students to develop their talents.
“The first part towards making our event a success, is to ensure that our members are well prepared, and for that we will make good use of the time leading up to the performance,” says Ontiretse Motingwa, chairperson of the Drama Society.
According to Ontiretse, students face many issues that do not only affect them, but also those close to them.
“We have purposefully chosen a date before the exams as a way of encouraging students, taking the burden off their shoulders – even if only for a few hours. We want to assure them that they are not alone and that they are understood.”
More about NWU Drama Society
The NWU Drama Society on the Mahikeng Campus is open to all students and provides a safe place where they can unwind and feel at home. Society mentors aim to bring out the best in each student, and an acting background is not necessary.
This theatre group does not only want to entertain, but also spread awareness.
Its primary objective is to depict problems that students can identify with and demonstrate to them that there is always a solution.
Performing at the Student Centre on the NWU’s Mahikeng Campus are from the left Pogiso Mmusi, Mbuso Langa, Anele Gobodwana (event organiser), Makhethe Motsoanyane, Phenyo Modiselle and Chris Pheko.
