The North-West University (NWU) Career Centre will be hosting career coaching workshops on 14 and 15 February 2018 at the university’s campus in Mahikeng.
These workshops will address topics such as time management, personal finances, communication skills, the value of networking and mentoring, CV writing and interviewing skills.
“These workshops target all NWU students and will be presented on all three campuses,” says Thoriso Maseng, manager of the NWU Career Centre. “Presented by knowledgeable experts, these workshops aim at enhancing the work readiness and employability of our students. The Career Centre plans to host similar workshops - with different topics and different presenters – during the rest of the year, excluding recess and examination periods.”
These workshops will be facilitated by two well-experienced presenters - Prof Japie Kroon and Dr Peet Roos.
Prof Kroon has been a lecturer in the NWU’s School of Management Sciences for 39 years and specialises in business management and entrepreneurship. The topics he will present are part of his lectures and work in management sciences. He holds a DCom in business management and entrepreneurship from the NWU.
Dr Roos is a human resource professional with 34 years of experience in HR management and career consulting. His areas of specialisation include recruitment, job evaluation, job descriptions and remuneration. Since joining the NWU Career Centre in 2011, he has been involved in graduate employability enhancement through CV-writing, preparation for interviews and career opportunities. He holds a MCom in industrial psychology from the University of Pretoria and just completed a PhD in psychology at the NWU with a focus on graduate employability.
