The past weekend saw top-class basketball action at the Sasol NWU Vanderbijlpark Junior Basketball Tournament. The tournament took place at the Harry Gwala Sport Complex in Zamdela.

Both the men’s and the women’s teams of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark were victorious in their respective finals and saw a rare double victory at the tournament. It is also the first time since the inception of the tournament that the host managed to win either title.

The men’s final saw the NWU Vaal Wolves beat Limpopo by 52-46 baskets to claim the silverware while the NWU Vaal Patriots (women’s team) won Ekurhuleni by a convincing 73-30 baskets.
