NWU alumnus to represent SA at Miss Intercontinental World pageant

North-West University (NWU) alumnus and Miss NWU 2018 Taahirah Zungu will represent South Africa at the Miss Intercontinental World pageant that will take place in Egypt later this year.

This is after she was crowned as Miss Intercontinental South Africa for 2022 during a pageant held at Gold Reef City on 20 August 2022.

Originally from Mahikeng,Taahirah has completed two qualifications at the NWU, a diploma in sports coaching and a BHSc degree in sports coaching and human movement sciences.

Taahirah is currently an entrepreneur and founder and CEO of the Taahirah Modelling Academy. Through her academy she currently mentors 40 young people in the North West province.

She has 12 years of experience in the modelling industry, and participated in more than 10 pageants, walking away with several titles. These include the titles of Miss Teen Universe in 2016 and Miss NWU in 2018.

Taahirah says she is happy and honoured to have been crowned Miss Intercontinental South Africa.

“It was a challenging yet amazing journey, and I am grateful for the support from my family.

“I am 100% ready for my reign and looking forward to take part in various youth upliftment programmes which I presented to President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this year when he visited the Mahikeng Digital Innovation Hub as part of his Imbizo programme,” adds Taahirah.

Miss Intercontinental World is an annual international beauty pageant, which officially began in Aruba as Miss Teenage Intercontinental in 1973. The contest is organised by the World Beauty Organisation based in Panama.

To compete in Miss Intercontinental World, delegates must win their national pageants, after which each national winner then represents her country at the global pageant.

Miss Intercontinental South Africa is directed by former Miss South Africa 2010, Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala.
