North-West University (NWU) alumnus Prof Retselisitsoe Moses Phooko’s research prowess recently earned him a National Research Foundation (NRF) research award in the category Early Career/Emerging Researchers.
The award ceremony took place on 2 November 2021 during a hybrid event with limited in-person guests in Pretoria, and live-streamed to more than 500 virtual attendees.
Prof Phooko obtained his LLB degree from the NWU, and also holds an LLM from the University of Notre Dame in the USA, and an LLD from UNISA.
He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Private Law at the University of Johannesburg. His research focuses primarily on international law, and more specifically on SADC community law.
“It is an honour for any researcher to have their work recognised by the NRF and elsewhere,” says Prof Phooko.
