North-West University (NWU) alumnus, Oratile Mokgwetsi, has made the university proud by obtaining five awards for being part of a team working on Nando’s digital marketing campaigns.
Oratile, who completed her BA degree in communication in 2013, scored this feat while working as a digital media strategist at VMLY&R South Africa, an advertising agency that runs digital campaigns for Nando’s.
She received an Apex award for assisting in Nando’s e-commerce platforms, giving her input on the consumer journey and touchpoints.,
Furthermore, Oratile got a Bookmark award and a Loerie award for the Nando’s app. She also scored another Bookmark and a Loerie award for Nando’s loadshedding campaign.
“I always liked the idea of telling stories and people buying into my story,” says Oratile.
Oratile considers being part of the team working on the Nando’s account as her biggest achievement, and is happy to use her experience on the road ahead.
“Being employed in the advertising space may not make you rich, but if you know how to play the game, and know your worth, you can go far.”
“These awards mean that my work and efforts are recognised, and for that I am grateful,” says Oratile.
Oratile has since joined McCann as senior digital strategist, where she focuses on planning campaigns, and researching new digital platforms and new ways to engage with consumers. Her advice? “Stay true to yourself and follow your dreams.”
