Dr Cameron Modisane, a North-West University (NWU) alumnus, was recently appointed to the ISACA South African chapter board of directors.
ISACA stands for Information Systems Audit and Control Association and is an international professional association focused on IT governance. It aims to help business technology professionals and their enterprises to realise the positive potential of technology.
Dr Modisane’s term as the Pretoria regional director will be from 2020 to 2022. He is responsible for member engagement and chapter coordination and activities within the Pretoria region.
He is also part of the Academic Relations and Education Committee responsible for advancement through partnerships with individuals, organisations, academic institutions and professional bodies.
Hundreds of congratulatory messages poured in on social media after he shared the news on LinkedIn.
“I am deeply honoured and humbled to have been appointed to serve within the ISACA South African chapter board.”
He says he will aim to increase member participation to help the profession grow, and would like to build a legacy at ISACA.
“This legacy would be to have a structured learnership programme for young people entering the profession. To do this I will engage with stakeholders from various organisations and institutions to create a pipeline for up-and-coming audit and IT professionals in South Africa,” says Dr Modisane.
He adds that, as the Pretoria regional director, he aims at organising fruitful events that will benefit ISACA members.
“We live in a technology driven world - therefore seminars, meetings and talks should focus on the future and on how we can use technology to better our lives in an agile environment that is ever changing. That will be my focus in coordinating member activities,” he says.
Dr Modisane, who currently works for the Auditor General of South Africa, obtained his PhD from the NWU’s Faculty of Economic Management Sciences in 2019.
His research study was titled “Establishing a competency framework for the integration of workplace information technology knowledge and skills within an internal audit education programme and training”. It focused on the impact that information technologies have on the auditing profession and how university students can prepare for the future changes.
The NWU applauds Dr Modisane on his new appointment and looks forward to the valuable contribution he is going to make.
