North-West University (NWU) alumna Natascha Viljoen is not only breaking boundaries, but is also flying the university flag high. She was recently appointed as the new chief executive officer for Anglo Platinum (Amplats).
Natascha, who will take up her new role on 16 April, is the first woman to head the world's largest primary producer of platinum, Amplats.
Hailing from Klerksdorp, a small mining town in the North West Province, it is no surprise where her love for mining comes from. She obtained her BEng degree from the NWU in 1991.
With a career that spans close to three decades she has worked for some of South Africa’s top mining companies. This metallurgical engineer is currently group head of processing at Anglo American.
The NWU congratulates and wishes Natascha well on her new exciting venture.
