NWU academic makes it count at international conference

Prof Masood Khalique from the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng recently participated in the Sixth International Conference on Advances in Applied Mathematics (ICAAM) in Sousse, Tunisia.

ICAAM is an international conference in the field of mathematics that is held every year under the auspices of the Tunisian Association of Applied and Industrial Mathematics, which was founded in 2012.

Mathematicians from around the world attended the conference, which provided an international networking opportunity to discuss the latest research.

to the event highlighted some of the major theoretical advances and applications in the fields of control theory, dynamical systems, fixed point theory, homogenisation, inverse problem, nonlinear analysis and nonlinear systems and matrix – to name but a few.

Prof Khalique presented his plenary talk entitled “Applications of symmetry methods to differential equations”.

In the meantime, Prof Khalique, who is also a guest editor of the international journal Applied Mathematics and Nonlinear Sciences, has organised a special issue of the journal entitled "Recent Advances in Applied Mathematics of ICAAM ". An open call for papers to be considered for publication in this special issue has been announced.

Here are Prof Masood Khalique with Prof Nedra Moalla, president of the Tunisian Association of Applied and Industrial Mathematics, and Prof Thouraya Kharrat, secretary of the association.
