NWU academic impress with judging skills during Undergraduate Awards

Prof Ravinder Rena’s expertise in education and undergraduate research is taking him places – to Dublin in Ireland to be exact.

In recognition of his diligent work and his expertise in education and undergraduate research, this North-West University (NWU) academic will be attending the Global Undergraduate Summit in Ireland as chair judge.

This great honour follows after Prof Rena impressed his fellows during judging of the annual global Undergraduate Awards (UA).

The UA is the world’s leading undergraduate awards programme. It identifies the world’s leading creative thinkers and problem-solvers through their undergraduate coursework.

Prof Rena was the chair of the judging panel for the economics category of the awards. He oversaw the judging of all submissions in the category. He also managed a panel of eight academic judges as they assessed and discussed the 102 entries.

In recognition of his excellent work and expertise, the UA invited Prof Rena to attend and participate as chair judge at the Global Undergraduate Summit. This event will take place from 12 to14 November in Dublin, Ireland.

“It’s indeed a great honour and a privilege for me to take part in such a global scholarly event,” said Prof Rena. “It would be a great opportunity to meet and interact with other academics and scholars from prestigious universities such as Princeton University, Oxford, and the London School of Economics and Political Science.”

At The Global Undergraduate Summit, top award-winning students from all over the world present their work across 25 different disciplines. This is a unique opportunity for students to network and share cross-disciplinary research in a vibrant and engaging space.
