Dr Mala Singh, executive coach and management consultant, has been appointed as the new director for People and Culture. She has been appointed for a fixed term of four years as from 1 October 2018.
Dr Singh has 41 years experience in the public and private sector, and has worked as a lecturer, psychologist and researcher. Her impressive career in human resources includes being deputy national commissioner of the police and executive director for human resources at Unisa and the University of Johannesburg.
She has 20 years of experience at executive management level and was previously registered as a psychologist. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the Human Resource Central Executive Board, the Human Resource Committee of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Universitas 21 Human Resource Sub Committee. She is also a member of the Institute for Personnel Management and the Universities South Africa Human Resource Executive Directors Forum.
As executive director of Mala Singh and Associates, her work predominantly focuses on coaching, mentoring, strategy and performance enhancement, leadership and executive development. She has coached in numerous fields, among them security services, banking, finance and the public sector, as well as higher education institutions.
