Grade 12 learners who have been attending the Winter School on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campuses in Mahikeng and Vanderbijlpark are impressed with the experience and the tuition they have received.
Attending the winter school from 23 June to 4 July 2019 these learners are now prepared and motivated to give their best in their final examinations.
Nolwazi Gama, a learner from Sunrise View Secondary School in Rustenburg, says the experience she gained from the Winter School is amazing.
“The teaching was excellent, it really helped me realise the mistakes I have been making in my school work. I think I will do better going forward,” she adds.
“The Winter School has helped me in many ways. Besides the school work, the environment itself motivates you to do better in Grade 12 so as you can go study at a university,” says Abdul Raheem Chond from Central Secondary School.
Block Kabelo from Bopaganang Secondary School in Vryburg says that the programme has assisted him a lot.
“Even though it was just few days, it feels like a year. As for me, I am now ready to pass the coming exams, and I want to be part of the NWU family next year.”
More than 2 000 Grade 12 learners from the North West and Gauteng province attended the annual matric NWU Winter School.
This programme, facilitated by qualified and experienced tutors, focuses on problem areas within the subjects offered and helping learners prepare for their final examinations. It also enables these learners to meet the admission requirements of tertiary institutions and affords them a taste of university life.
Abdul Raheem Chond, Nolwazi Gama and Block Kabelo are impressed with what they have learned at the annual NWU Winter School.
