One of Mahikeng’s well-known journalists, Sosty Rammutla, received a BA communication degree during the North-West University (NWU) graduation ceremony on 11 October 2022 at the Mahikeng Campus.
Sosty says he is truly grateful and proud of this achievement.
“I would like to thank God for His grace, and I dedicate this qualification to my wife who stood by me, to my mother who has been my anchor all my life, and thirdly, to the man that gave me this opportunity in the first place – Prof Dan Kgwadi,” says Sosty.
Sosty grabbed the opportunity to study at the NWU when former vice-chancellor, Prof Dan Kgwadi, presented it to community media personnel during a media networking session.
Sosty, who always had a passion for media, arts and culture, founded his first media company at the age of 20 while studying information communication technology (ICT) at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT).
He is currently a chief editor of The Maftownian and Molemirui Newspapers. Previously he was a senior journalist and sports editor at Mahikeng Mail Newspaper. His work as a journalist at the Mahikeng Mail has earned him a nomination for Journalist of the Year at the Bokone Bophirima Sports Awards in 2016.
Sosty is also a founder of Street KID Media Foundation, which offers development programmes and creates opportunities for young people in arts, culture and recreation.
He holds various certificates from Unisa,and is currently in the process of completing his ICT diploma with the VUT.
“I plan to continue my studies with the NWU I have finally proven to myself that anything is possible if you put your mind to it,” says Sosty.
Sosty Rammutla is now a proud NWU graduate.
