The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Ju-Jitsu team walked away with no less than 11 medals at the World Morganti Ju-Jitsu Championships that took place in Klerksdorp on 21 September 2019.

Individuals and teams from across the globe participated in the championship, hailing from countries such as South Africa, Brazil, Spain and Argentina.

Nine NWU students participated and brought home seven gold, three silver and one bronze medals.

Moses Radebe, Lincoln Rakgoale and Sean Motshabi Linco were also awarded gold medals during the event’s gala dinner. In addition, Elvis Moyo walked away with a gold for the best fight of the tournament.

Moses, who is also the team’s coach, says he is very proud of their achievement.

"I'm very happy and amazed with the performance of the team. They have applied all strategies practiced for winning,” he says.

“As winners, our long-term goal is to share our knowledge of the sport with upcoming clubs,” he adds.

Moses says the team is currently preparing for the provincial and national championships, which are qualifiers for next year’s World Ju-Jitsu Championships in Spain.
