IT Seminar another first for NWU Vanderbijlpark

Today, 20 August 2018, the North-West University’s (NWU’s) School of Computer Science and Information Systems on the campus in Vanderbijlpark will host its first ever IT Seminar.  

The aim of the seminar is to expose senior students in the school to industry trends, demands and opportunities. According to JT Janse van Rensburg, a lecturer and the organiser of the summit, the programme of the day will see several industry representatives – some of which are alumni members of the university – share their professional experiences with third-year and postgraduate students.

Several high-level companies will be represented during the summit, including the likes of Project Isizwe, Omnia, Datacentrix, Ernst & Young, CRCED Pretoria, Reverside and SAPCONET. The following topics will be discussed:
•    IT in a chemical process industry
•    IoT and cloud consumption
•    Entrepreneurial start-ups
•    Corporate experience
•    Robotic process automation
•    Keeping up with technology
•    The IT skills gap
•    Machine learning

* The School of Computer Science and Information Systems is situated in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences.
