During the last five weeks parents had to quickly familiarise themselves with teaching techniques and start homeschooling their children.
Although the South African lockdown may be relaxed in the next coming weeks, parents need to continue playing the role of a teacher, because there still no confirmed date as to when schools will reopen.
The Institute of Psychology and Wellbeing at the North-West University (NWU) is hosting an online workshop for parents to help nurture their kids attention and critical thinking skills.
The 75-minute long webinar will be held on Tuesday 28 April at 14:00.
During the session experts from the institute will touch on the science of attention and critical thinking, strategies and activities that will be helpful in the classroom, the neurotransmitters in the brain involved in attention and thinking skills and more information on communication-interaction, self-regulation, and executive function.
Staff members who want to join the webinars must send an email to IPWinfo@nwu.ac.za to receive the Zoom meeting ID or contact 018 299 1737 for more information.
