Douwleen Conradie, a first-year pharmacy student at the North-West University (NWU) is making the most of her talents and has her eye firmly set on making her mark in the pharmaceutical profession.,
She has been serving as student exchange officer on the South African Pharmaceutical Students Federation’s (SAPSF’s) Presidential Committee this year.
The SAPSF, a sector of the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa, is a united student body that serves the interests of pharmacy students and promotes the pharmacy profession by working towards a common goal of quality of health for all.
She says being part of the committee has provided invaluable insights into her future career. “I am eager to connect with professionals in the pharmacy field from all around the globe, fostering valuable networks and gaining exposure to diverse symposiums and events,” says Douwleen, who’s responsibilities include corresponding with fellow pharmacy students abroad to explore possible exchange programmes with South Africa.
She will also be attending the upcoming 82nd International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress, which takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 1 to 4 September 2024, a significant historical event as it marks the first time in decades that such a conference is hosted in South Africa.
Douwleen is also a proud recipient of a bursary from the Hillensburg Trust Fund, which has supported her educational journey. This invite-based bursary is only available to applicants who performs well academically, and being a recipient thereof is a testament of her hard work and perseverance.
Douwleen is excited about her journey and believes she will make an indelible mark in the pharmaceutical industry one day.
