Final countdown to annual Alumni Gala Dinner

The official countdown to the 2017 rendition of the North-West University (NWU) Alumni Gala Dinner on the campus in Vanderbijlpark has started!

This annual gala event - which takes place on Friday, 15 September, represents a highlight on the campus’s calendar and it affords alumni and friends of the university the opportunity to not only get up-to-date of the latest developments on the campus, but also to socialise in a relaxed setting. As is the tradition with this event, an entertainment line-up second to none has been secured: Brian Temba and Liezel Pieters will respectively take to the stage to entertain guests with a fresh and eclectic music performance.

The event takes place at the Quest Conference Estate in Vanderbijlpark and the theme of the event is: “Let’s take it back to the campus”. The dress code for the evening will be black and gold. According to Zanele Ngobese, alumni coordinator on the campus, the theme links closely with the reminiscing nature of a reunion and facilitates as it may a proverbial trip down memory lane.

More about the performing artists

Brian Temba was born to be on stage. As a well-known performer, singer, songwriter and producer he needs no formal introduction and fans can prepare themselves for a performance of note. Known for his recent role as Ranthumeng Mokoena in the soap opera, Muvhango, and his role as Simba in the West End musical, The Lion King, it is clear why he held in such high regard.

Afrikaans singing sensation, Liezel Pieters, burst onto the South African music scene in 2015 with the chart-topper, “Asemloos”. She is known as a versatile artist and her repertoire includes pop, country and rock. As a member of the Krone- and 4Werke collaborations, Liezel captivates audiences with her powerful renditions of international hits such as “Show me heaven”, “Making love out of nothing at all” and “Just a fool”.
