I am an Associate Professor of Nutrition at North-West University (NWU), with expertise in gene-environment interactions related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs). I hold a PhD in Nutrition from NWU, where I investigated gene-diet interactions influencing homocysteine levels. My postdoctoral research at Wageningen University in the Netherlands further deepened my expertise in nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics. Since 2010, I have been a faculty member at NWU, where I was promoted to Senior Lecturer (2012) and Associate Professor (2018). I have supervised multiple MSc and PhD students, authored 29 peer-reviewed publications, and contributed to 43 verified peer reviews. My work has been cited over 500 times, and I hold an NRF C2 rating (2022). I am actively involved in the global scientific community, serving as a Review Editor for Thrombosis Journal (Springer) and Guest Editor for Metabolites, Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, and Applied Sciences. My editorial contributions focus on thrombosis, vascular aging and nutrigenomics. I have also presented research at national and international conferences. Beyond academia, I contribute to science communication as the creator of Nutrition Unveiled, a platform demystifying nutrition science. As a member of the African Society of Human Genetics and the International Society of Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics, I continue to advance research on the interplay between genetics, diet and NCD risk.
