With this in mind the North-West University’s (NWU’s) bhive Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) – a dynamic entrepreneurial hub within the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences – will be hosting a seminar on 13 June 2018 with established entrepreneur Vimala Ariyan as the keynote speaker.
The seminar is aptly called: “Grow as you go: the entrepreneurial journey”, and aims to provide students and local start-up business owners with time-tested lessons on how to grow an entrepreneurial venture.
Vimala, the founder and managing director of the Southern African Institute of Learning (SAIL), is an entrepreneur of note and will share her journey of growth during the seminar. She is familiar with the challenges most start-up entrepreneurs experience and her rise to business success not only motivates others but also bears testament to her own passion and dedication. It took her 12 years to build the solid foundations her business needed to become a high-growth organisation and as such, attendees will benefit from her experiences, know-how and valuable networking advice.
Before launching SAIL, Vimala spent 13 years as a school teacher before branching out as an entrepreneur within the adult education system. Initially it took her a full year before she was able to employ an administrative assistant. She worked as a training and development consultant to pay the bills and bring cash into the business while she developed courses, got these accredited and grew SAIL’s product offerings.
Vimala is a member of the Women Presidents Organisation and a certified WeConnect supplier (an international organisation that links female suppliers to corporates).
