Don’t let unforgettable Fame pass you by

There are just a few days left before the opening night of the energetic and talent-filled musical Fame in the Sanlam Auditorium on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Potchefstroom. The four shows will take place on 30 and 31 August and on 1 and 2 September.

The creative team responsible for Fame comprises members of Artéma, Alabama Productions and Puk Arts. The production promises to take the audience on an enjoyable, poignant journey filled with great performances by talented performers playing delightfully ambitious and gifted characters.

Judged by creative team’s previous productions, such as Breaking up is hard to do, Grease, Persreën and Back to the 80’s, Fame will be a feast for the senses.

The musical is based on the popular films and television series that inspired hopeful artists to give their all in their pursuit of stardom. It tells the stories of a group of students of New York’s famous high school for the performing arts in the 80s. The audience follows them on their journeys from their first to final years as they battle to overcome obstacles such as prejudice and drug abuse to ultimately triumph as artists.

Nacia Kruger, an NWU alumna and former member of Alabama, directs and choreographs this exciting production. Pieter de Bruin is in charge of the music and a nine-piece orchestra provides the accompaniment.

Twenty-five of the NWU’s talented students are involved in bringing the legendary production to life on our local stage.

Ticket prices range from R100 to R120 and can be bought via the internet at www.artema.co.za or on NWU Puk Arts’ Facebook page. Tickets are also available at AJR in the Mooi River Mall, Protea Bookstore on the Bult or at the Heimat Building on the campus in Potchefstroom.
