The grand finale of the Mr and Miss North-West University (NWU) Vanderbijlpark Campus pageant at the Tsebonokeng Hall highlighted the personalities and strengths of the contestants, culminating in the much-anticipated announcement of the winners.

Students and parents came in large numbers to support their friends and family members competing in the pageant.

In the end, Jerel Klopper was crowned Mr NWU Vanderbijlpark Campus, and Khanyisile Matshobane walked away with the Miss NWU Vanderbijlpark Campus title.

Karabo Morena Molefe was announced First Prince, with Alvin Baguma as Second Prince. The title of First Princess went to Maronel Fourie, and Karabo Mphokane was announced Second Princess. Mr and Miss Culture went to Tshepang Nosenga and Priscilla Matobako, while Vusi Mthembu and Khanyisile Somgaca were announced as Mr and Miss Personality.

The panel of judges included Jayson Beukes, senior marketer at Marketing and Student Recruitment, Juanita Oosthuizen, founder and director of Show Your Talent South Africa, and Lethiwe Kubheka, the Student Life cultural officer and event organiser.

“This event goes far beyond being just a pageant – it serves as a platform for personal growth and leadership development,” says Lethiwe. “Witnessing these students grow through the interviews, workshops, community outreach and donation drives, and seeing them shine on stage tonight have been truly rewarding.”

She adds that many previous participants from this platform have progressed to student leadership roles and even national competitions such as Miss World South Africa. "I hope the NWU continues to support such programmes, as they offer invaluable experiences and leave a lasting impact on the lives of our students. Congratulations to all the winners, and I look forward to working with you."

Juanita says the NWU pageant is a vibrant and inspiring event, bringing the university community together to celebrate beauty, talent and confidence. "It provides a platform for students to showcase their individuality, creativity and leadership abilities, embodying the values and spirit of the NWU. It was an honour to serve as a judge for such a prestigious occasion."
