Transparency, specifically in relation to uncovering beneficial ownership, is an essential factor in combatting corruption.
Lifestyle audits are often used by state-owned enterprises and government departments as a method in ensuring transparency and strengthening the investigative measures of anti-corruption units.
On 18 March from 15:00 to 17:00 the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Business School will host a Think Tank panel discussion titled “Combatting corruption in South Africa: The need for real transparency – are lifestyle audits part of the answer?”.
During the session various issues will be discussed, including whether results from these audits should be made public, if they should be compulsory for all politicians, and if these audits should be expanded to the private sector, particularly to the members of the media.
Interested parties can RSVP by by sending an email to 24154989@nwu.ac.za before 15 March.
