In 2024, as we celebrate the North-West University's (NWU’s) 20th anniversary, our festivities will spread joyous purple cheer and leave a distinct purple footprint wherever we touch down – for we are going to dance, leap and soar.
In 2004, the NWU came into existence through the merger of the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (its branch in Vanderbijlpark included), the University of North-West (formerly the University of Bophuthatswana) and the Sebokeng Campus of the Vista University.
After 20 years of excellence and greatness, we have the right to exuberant celebrations. Celebrating each milestone which has made the NWU a force to be reckoned with in the higher education landscape, not only locally, but also abroad.
Some of the festivities will include billboards, messages on our website, email banners and an academic excellence campaign. Our stakeholders can also look forward to displays at the libraries and art galleries and a 20-year docuseries, among other things.
All these activities will spread the word that the NWU will continue to create a great future for all its stakeholders and make a difference in the lives of people, as it did during the past two decades.
At the NWU, 2024 will definitely go down in history as a year of merrymaking. Watch out for more information about the anniversary ventures, and make sure you don’t miss out on the fun.
“Our course is set. Our resolve is strong, and our commitment unwavering. Together, we will sail into 2024, with horizons ahead, brighter than ever before. We believe that growth, unity and diversity make a great university. As we celebrate the past and start a new decade, let us not forget that it all starts here”, says Prof Bismark Tyobeka, principal and vice-chancellor of the NWU.
