North-West University (NWU) student, Caster Semenya, walked away with a gold medal for her exceptional performance during the women's 800m final at the IAAF World Championships in London.
Caster, an Olympic champion who has won the 800m during the World Championships in 2009 and 2011, scooped the gold medal on 13 August 2017 with a personal best time of 1:55.16.
She also received a bronze medal in the 1 500m at the same event.
Caster took to social media to thank South Africans and her fans around the world for their constant support.“Completing the World Championship with a bronze and gold medal is by far my greatest achievement,” she concluded.
