Career day empowers alumni

The North-West University (NWU) Alumni Office in partnership with the Career Centre hosted a Career Empowerment seminar on 19 April at the Vanderbijlpark Campus.

The event was well-attended and provided valuable information and resources to alumni seeking advice on their career paths.

Speakers included Silungiso Madondo, career councillor at the Department of Employment and Labour, Jonathan Najoe, advocacy and partnerships coordinator at Harambee, a not-for-profit social enterprise that aims to solve youth employment through partnerships, and Nomalungelo Xhuma, a private banker at Standard Bank.

The company representatives were knowledgeable and experienced, and they shared plenty of useful tips with the attendees. They covered topics such as how to network effectively, how to stand out in a job interview, and how to navigate the job market.

Azwi Singo and Tshepiso Mothupi from the NWU Career Centre discussed career coaching, CV writing and interview skills, respectively.

Overall, it was a great event that helped many alumni take a step forward in their careers. The event was a valuable networking opportunity, and it gave attendees the chance to learn from the experiences of successful professionals.
