Tshegofatso Bogatsu has joined Career Services on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus as a specialist career coach.
She will support students and graduates in navigating their academic careers and preparing them for the world of work.
“The goal is to empower and support students and graduates in making informed career decisions and achieving meaningful employment outcomes, working in alignment with the university’s employability strategy,” says Tshegofatso.
“I’m excited to join the Career Services team and to contribute to realising the university’s vision and mission. I look forward to making a meaningful difference by helping students and graduates build the careers and futures they envision.”
Tshegofatso holds an undergraduate degree and an honours degree in industrial and organisational psychology, as well as a diploma in human resource management. She is a member of the South African Career Development Association and the South African Board of People Practice.
She brings nearly two decades of experience in the corporate and non-profit sectors, focusing on early career development, mentoring and coaching. “I am passionate about creating career development opportunities for young talent with a keen interest in the learning and development of people in general,” she explains.
Her previous roles include learning and development co-ordinator at Massmart, graduate recruitment and programme co-ordinator for Microsoft’s Student2Business Programme, bursary programme co-ordinator at Naspers and mentoring co-ordinator at Study Trust.
“Through the Student2Business Skills Development Project, we recruited and trained 3 000 unemployed IT graduates, with 80% securing employment,” says Tshegofatso, highlighting one of her proudest achievements.
She is well prepared for her new role at the NWU, having previously facilitated workshops and webinars on academic navigation and work readiness for university students.
