Campus pilots shuttle service to ease lunchtime commute

Easy commuting. This is what the envisioned lunchtime shuttle service for staff and students of the Vanderbijlpark Campus of the North-West University (NWU) aims to achieve.

The Directorate Operational Management, under the leadership of Mr Pola Mmapulana, is heading-up this unique project which will see members of the campus community being shuttled to and from various retail midpoints within Vanderbijlpark during lunch hour. The project will commence on Monday, 20 February 2017 and will run between the hours of 12:30 and 14:00. For a fixed price of R100 per month any staff member or registered student can make use of the shuttle service – regardless of the amount of trips.

According to Mr Mmapulana, the continuation of the project is subject to the demand for such a service and a trail period of three months has been identified. The shuttle route will include the following retail midpoints: Vaal Mall, Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarket (Bedworthpark), Makro and President Hyper. All off-campus residences will also form part of the route.
