BRICS Network University Seminar to build, strengthen partnerships

The North-West University (NWU) will be hosting the 2023 BRICS Network University Seminar from 5 to 6 July on the NWU’s Potchefstroom Campus.

BRICS is an acronym denoting the various global partnerships between Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Delegates from universities across South Africa will attend the seminar in person, while delegates from Brazil, Russia, India and China will attend digitally. The seminar, titled Mobilising Global Knowledge and Research Networks for Inclusive and Sustainable Development, will aim to find joint solutions for shared problems pertaining to sustainability questions. The seminar will further serve to build new partnerships and strengthen existing ones as the BRICS partnership continues to grow.

Topics that will be discussed also include BRICS and Africa: partnership for mutually accelerated growth, sustainable development and inclusive multilateralism, and numerous presentations from the respective delegates.

By hosting events such as the BRICS Network University Seminar, the NWU is again emphasising that it is imperative for academic institutions to share valuable knowledge, as diverse perspectives and expertise foster innovative approaches that facilitate cross-cultural understanding. The promotion of global cooperation that pools resources to address the complex challenges hampering sustainability must always be a joint BRICS focus.
