bhive EDC: turning great ideas into profitable businesses

Do you have an idea that you want to turn into a profitable business? If so, the North-West University’s (NWU’s) bhive Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) should be your first port of call.

The bhive EDC – which is situated in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences on the NWU’s campus in Vanderbijlpark – will be hosting a Business Framework Workshop on 3 May 2018. The topic of the workshop is: “Bring your business idea to life.”

According to Annelie Steenkamp, assistant manager of the bhive EDC, there are lots of new businesses being started all the time but not every great idea is guaranteed to turn into a great business. “If you really want to make a success of your business, it is important to clearly define your business idea, your goals, your market segment and your value proposition even before you get started,” explains Annelie and adds that a solid business model serves as an entrepreneur’s compass on his/her journey towards success.

In Annelie’s view, the workshop will aid start-up entrepreneurs to interrogate their business ideas and as such represents a valuable learning opportunity. “A new business idea only becomes successful by way of hard work and planning. This workshop will go a long way in assisting entrepreneurs to fine-tune their business proposals and to ultimately inspire and equip them to generate returns and make a positive contribution to the economy and our society.”

The workshop will take place in the Open Incubator in Building 3, from 12:00 – 16:00. Space is limited and interested persons should book their seats. The workshop fee amounts to R100 per person.
