North-West University (NWU) student Oscar Mosenogi, who has been selected as one of the World Changers Candidates Ambassadors, was given the opportunity to speak at the Best Diplomats Conference that took place in Thailand.
This conference was organised by Best Diplomats, a New York-based international organisation focusing on training and crafting future diplomats through diplomatic simulations. Supported by the United Nations, it serves as a platform for young leaders and change-makers to exchange ideas and find solutions to the world's most pressing issues.
The conference focused on human trafficking and exploitation as a form of transactional organised crime. Human trafficking is a grave issue affecting millions worldwide, and the conference aimed to raise awareness of the issue and identify potential solutions.
Over 100 young individuals from different countries were present at the conference, and Oscar says he was honoured to be part of it.
“This experience marks the beginning of my leadership journey beyond borders and is a clear indication that ‘Black child, you can do it.’ The platform provided me with valuable insights into negotiations, consciousness, leadership, and international relations.
“Participating in a diverse and inclusive environment was an incredible opportunity to learn about different cultures and the challenges faced by various countries,” adds Oscar.
Oscar was part of a committee that won the resolution phase for implementation, which he says was an incredible achievement that motivated him to reach even greater heights. This is a significant accomplishment for the young leader, who is passionate about making a difference in the world and improving the lives of others.
“My participation in the conference has undoubtedly played a vital role in my personal and professional growth. I have gained valuable experience and insight that will help me to make a positive impact in the future.”
