Despite the new regulations put in place with regard to the coronavirus, the Institute of Psychology and Wellbeing at the North-West University (NWU) will this year still be hosting its fifth Autism Symposium from 25 to 27 June. The NWU and Autism South Africa (ASA) are offering the event jointly, but it will be presented as a digital, online event.
The annual Autism Symposium offers support to families and is a unique platform where parents, educationists, medical care staff, social workers and employers involved with children and adults on the autism spectrum can obtain the most recent information available.
The symposium has grown into a national event and the overwhelmingly positive feedback indicates that the contribution of the symposium is valuable in promoting a positive attitude towards neurodiversity.
The theme of the 2020 symposium is emotional regulation. We welcome autistic individuals, medical specialists and practitioners, professional nurses, speech-language and occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, educators and parents to this online symposium. Join us for a blend of practical and academic presentations from the field of medicine, psychology, speech-language and occupational therapy, nursing, education and law, and by parents and autistic people.
