North-West University (NWU) Soccer Institute player Banele Hlophe has joined the professional team JDR Stars FC.
JDR Stars is a South African football club based in Pretoria, and plays in the National First Division.
Banele has signed with JDR Stars for a six-month period, with the option to renew his contract for another two seasons. This midfield maestro has represented the NWU Soccer Institute during Varsity Football, University Sports South Africa and the ABC Motsepe League.
“I believe every aspiring footballer would like to make it to the professional level, so when that breakthrough comes, it is a dream come true,” he says.
NWU Soccer Institute coach Karabo Masehela says JDR Stars is a good place to launch Banele’s professional career.
“The club has a balanced squad in terms of experienced older players and youngsters who are hungry to fight for the Premier Soccer League promotion.
“Banele is disciplined and I believe I have taught him a lot about the technical aspects of the game, enabling him to compete at the highest level,” adds Karabo.
