The Anime Club Society of the North-West University Vanderbijlpark Campus, in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities, recently took an exciting step towards bringing Purple Con 2026 to life. The team gathered at a local restaurant to officially launch their partnership drive for what is shaping up to be one of the Vaal’s most anticipated cultural events of the year. The activation was more than a pitch. It was a declaration of intent.
Having successfully launched Purple Con in 2025 an event inspired by the scale and energy of Comic Con Africa the society arrived with momentum, a proven track record, and a clear vision: to grow Purple Con 2026 into something even bigger. The main event scheduled for the 25th of July 2026, will once again bring together gaming, e-sports, cosplay, Asian culture, art, and pop culture under one roof, targeting audiences aged 12 to 60 with no restrictions on community reach.
The recent activation gathering was a call to action for local businesses and organisations to get on board early. Partnership opportunities were presented as a chance for brands to gain meaningful visibility before, during, and after the event reaching not just NWU students across all three campuses, but also high school learners, families, and community members from across the Vaal region and beyond.
The society's goals for 2026 are ambitious and community-driven: supporting student entrepreneurship by giving young creatives a platform to showcase and sell their work; strengthening ties with local and technology-focused businesses; growing competitive gaming participation at both high school and university level; and celebrating cultural diversity in an inclusive, entertaining environment.
“What sets Purple Con apart is its genuine community heartbeat. This is not a corporate production; it is a student-led movement that has already proven its ability to draw a crowd, create buzz, and deliver an experience people want to return to,” said Karabo Koalane of the Vanderbijlpark Campus Anime Club Society.
For businesses looking to connect authentically with a young, passionate, and diverse audience, the message from the Anime Club Society is simple: Purple Con 2026 is the opportunity should not be missed.
