On Tuesday, 28 March, Christian Bester together with pianist Laetitia Orlandi and French horn player Shannon Armer, will present a recital of American art songs.
The recital will feature a variety of composition styles and regional flavours of American art songs composers, composed at the turn of the nineteenth-century till present day. The concert offers South African concert goers a rare glimpse into the American art song canon.
Christian has performed in operas, concerts and recitals all over South Africa, the United States as well as Australia and Italy. After completing his doctorate degree at the University of North Texas, Christian is currently a visiting Professor of Voice at the University of Wisconsin and a lecturer in music at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was the director of the art song concert recital series entitled Voces Initimae from 2013 to 2016.
