North-West University (NWU) alumnus Jennifer Malebogo Dipheko will represent the Ngaka Modiri Molema District at the upcoming National Netball Championships that will take place from 1 to 7 October in Rustenburg.
While Jennifer initially dabbled in both soccer and netball, it was netball that captured her heart. Her journey began with the Brazilians Netball Club in Kraaipan village, where she started participating in local tournaments in 2014. Her prowess on the netball court quickly became evident as she amassed an impressive collection of nine trophies for "Best Player" and "Best Defender of the Tournament."
In 2019, Jennifer embarked on her academic journey at the NWU, pursuing a BSocSC degree with a focus on development studies. She secured a spot on the Mahikeng Campus netball team and proudly represented the team from 2019 to 2021. She also had the opportunity to compete in the University Sports South Africa tournament in 2019 and 2020, showcasing her skills at university level.
Jennifer started playing for the Ngaka Modiri Molema District in 2020. She made her mark by representing the senior netball team at the Spar National Netball Championships in 2020 in Limpopo, and again in 2021 in Cape Town.
Jennifer's passion for netball also resulted in establishing her own teams – she has taken on a leadership role by establishing her own teams for the under-16 and under-21 categories in her village.
She says she is happy and proud to represent the Ngaka Modiri Molema District. “I know I am capable and dedicated and I believe I will be an asset to the team.”
With a deep-rooted love of netball, Jennifer aspires to one day don the jersey of the Spar Proteas, representing South Africa at the highest level of the sport.
