Bonolo “Miss Faith” Monaisa has transitioned from the student-run studios of NWU FM to the national platform of Motsweding FM, where she now serves as a content producer for SABC Educational Programmes.
Her broadcasting journey started while studying at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus. Bonolo completed a BA degree in Communication in 2023, and then went on to pursue her honours degree in media and journalism in 2024. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in journalism and media.
Bonolo joined NWU FM 105.5 in 2022, where she started with the midday show. She also presented and produced other shows. including the morning live show and the lunch show, until she became known for hosting Maftown 30 on weekends.
“When I got the opportunity to present at NWU FM during my undergraduate degree, it was like everything aligned,” she says.
At Motsweding FM, she will produce educational content targeted at young people and children. Her new role focuses on making learning relatable and culturally relevant through radio.
“This role is a big step towards my dream,” she says. “If there is anything I have picked up, it is that young people consume media differently today, and with education it is very hard to maintain a balance between retaining and losing the attention of your audience.”
She says she is ready to apply her skills, learn from industry professionals and explore new formats of storytelling.
Bonolo’s move to national radio marks a turning point in her career and opens a new chapter in public service broadcasting for her.
