South Africans are called to contribute 67 minutes of community service on 18 July each year in honour of Madiba’s legacy. This year’s Mandela Day theme was “Make every day a Mandela Day #itisinyourhands.
In this spirit of giving, the North-West University’s (NWU) Alumni Relations office donated 140 stationery items towards Seeiso Primary School Vanderbijlpark on Mandela Day.
Seeing the delight on the little one’s faces was heart-warming, says Zanele Ngobese, alumni relations practitioner on the campus.
‘’These schools deserve all the help they can get .
"The children attending these schools really need stationery; it goes a long way in making their learning environment just a little bit more comfortable," she adds.
One of Madiba’s remarkable quotes is ‘Education is the most powerful tool which can use to change the world.” Through this small contribution, the NWU’s alumni relations office hopes to positively contribute to our future leaders' lives.
