The Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa (AEASA) has appointed Dr Lindikhaya Myeki, a senior lecturer in the School of Agricultural Economics and Extension at the North-West University (NWU), as secretary and/or treasurer.
Dr Myeki’s appointment, effective from 1 October 2025, was confirmed by the AEASA management committee following a nomination that recognised his commitment, professional integrity and contribution to the field of agricultural economics in South Africa, The appointment is for a two-year renewable term.
As secretary/treasurer, Dr Myeki will be responsible for maintaining the association’s official records, managing financial accounts and preparing reports for the management committee and annual general meeting. He will oversee the membership database, coordinate conferences and workshops and liaise with stakeholders to promote AEASA’s objectives.
Reacting to his appointment, Dr Myeki said he is honoured to contribute to the advancement of agricultural economics in South Africa.
“AEASA plays a vital role in supporting agricultural economists and influencing policy. I look forward to serving the association and helping strengthen its governance and visibility,” he said.
AEASA President, Prof JJ Hlongwane, congratulated Dr Myeki on his appointment, noting that his experience and academic leadership will add value to the association’s operations and objectives.
