In a remarkable demonstration of skill and commitment, the Aerobics Club at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus delivered an outstanding performance at the South African Sport Aerobic, Fitness and Hip Hop Federation (SASAFF) national championships, which took place from 14 to 15 June in Cape Town.
The club's athletes, who had previously qualified in the Federation of International Sports Aerobics and Fitness (FISAF) International Step team and FISAF Novice Individual (Men) categories, showcased their expertise and artistry on stage.
The team aimed to achieve 7,5 points for federation colours and 8 or more points for Protea colours. After giving it their all, the team successfully qualified for the FISAF International Championships with an impressive score of 7+, earning them a silver medal in the FISAF Grande Step team category. Each team member also received a participation certificate.
“Proud is an understatement of how I feel about the team’s achievement, especially since this is the first time they have competed in such a big competition,” says Tshegofatso Masilela, the chairperson of the club.
“Our plan is to continue to do better and to hone our skills even more,” she adds.
