Academic to equip emerging entrepreneurs in public lecture on business growth

by Gosego Phutieagae

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus will host a general management public lecture aimed at equipping emerging entrepreneurs with practical tools to overcome barriers to business growth.

The lecture, titled “Breaking barriers to business growth: Practical strategies for emerging entrepreneurs”, will be presented by Bokamoso Selepe, a lecturer in Business Management at the Mahikeng Campus.

Bokamoso has over two years of undergraduate teaching experience and is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Management. He also holds an MCom in Business Management, completed with distinction, and has contributed to academic scholarship through peer-reviewed publications and conference participation.

Bokamoso’s research focuses on entrepreneurship and the sustainability of social enterprises, with a particular interest in practical strategies that support business growth and long-term impact.

Beyond the classroom, he contributes to student development as a faculty co-adviser for the Enactus programme and as a facilitator of the STEP programme, supporting entrepreneurial and community-based initiatives.

Bokamoso’s lecture is designed to provide aspiring entrepreneurs, students and early-stage business owners with actionable insights into overcoming common obstacles. These include limited resources, financial constraints, gaps in business knowledge and weak strategic planning.

The session will also focus on building essential management competencies such as decision-making, opportunity recognition and adaptive thinking – skills critical for navigating increasingly complex business environments. By linking theory with real-world application, the lecture aims to foster resilience, enhance entrepreneurial capability and promote sustainable business practices.

This lecture forms part of the ongoing commitment of the NWU to advancing inclusive entrepreneurship and empowering students and communities through knowledge-sharing and innovation.

The online lecture will take place on 3 June 2026 from10:00–12:30.
