Alumni Office engages graduates through career development support

True to the North-West University’s (NWU) ethic of care, the Alumni Office on the campus in Vanderbijlpark, together with the Career Centre, will host a Career Empowerment Day for members of the alumni fraternity on Wednesday, 7 August 2019.

The aim of the day will be to afford graduate jobseekers the opportunity to attend a CV writing and interview skills workshop to practically prepare them for future employment prospects. A Career Expo will furthermore see to it that graduates can network with a variety of business and industry representatives.

According to Zanele Ngobese, alumni coordinator, the university remains committed to the social, academic and professional wellness of its alumni, which is regarded as one of its most endeared group of brand ambassadors.

She also explains that the Career Centre is one of the most important offices at the campus because the centre helps students and graduates in a very practical way through unique and in-depth services. “The Career Centre offers members of the university community all the resources needed to transition from their academic to professional life successful,” says Zanele.

When explaining the relevance of the upcoming career day intervention, Zanele reiterates the importance of a good CV. “Your CV is the first chance a graduate gets to make a good impression on a potential employer, and a top-quality CV will considerably boost a graduate’s chance of getting a face-to-face interview and therefore it is worth spending time and effort on the content and the presentation.”
