Regard’s perfect score leads to graduation bliss

You could hear a pin drop when Ms Daleen Gerber, director of the School of Information Technology on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark, shared the impressive academic record of alumnus Regard du Toit.

Regard, who obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics  degree with distinction during the recent Autumn Graduation Ceremony, received the Award for Excellent Academic Achievement for maintaining an average of 89,2% during his three years of study. Upon hearing this the entire audience – including the dignitaries on stage – rose to their feet to congratulate Regard and celebrate the 33 distinctions that he achieved out of 33 modules.

Born and raised in Vereeniging, Gauteng, Regard matriculated in 2013 from Vereeniging Gimnasium with seven distinctions. During this time he was announced as the top performing learner in Information Technology in the Sedibeng East Educational District. In 2014 he started with a BSc degree in business analytics at the NWU’s campus in Vanderbijlpark, and received several awards for academic excellence. As from 2015 he became a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.

This year saw Regard being awarded one of only two South African Statistical Association (SASA) scholarships and he is currently enrolled for an honours degree in business analytics at the NWU’s campus in Potchefstroom. Regard is determined to enrol for a master’s degree in BSc Business Analytics in 2018.
