NWU researchers take hands with Polish and German counterparts

A delegation of researchers from the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences recently visited several international universities in Poland and Germany. The aim of the visits was to foster and build collaborative relationships between the institutions of higher learning.

The delegation – that was made up of researchers of the NWU’s campus in Vanderbijlpark – visited the following Polish tertiary institutions: the Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, the WSB University (Wyzsza Szkola Biznesu) in Dabrowa Gornicza, the Czestochowa University of Technology in Czestochowa as well as the Technische Universitat in Dresden, Germany.

The researchers – Prof Herman van der Merwe (Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning), Prof Babs Surujal (Deputy Dean: Research and Innovation), Prof Wynand Grobler (Deputy Director: School of Economic Sciences), Prof Danie Meyer (School of Economic Sciences), Mr Jacques de Jongh (School of Economic Sciences) and Ms Natanya Meyer (School of Management Sciences), met with their international counterparts to discuss collaborative research prospects and presented several research papers. Other points on the agenda included the provision of student scholarship opportunities, the sharing of expertise, staff and student mobility, guest lecturing and the co-supervision of postgraduate students.

During their visit the delegation also attended the second international Conference of Contemporary Issues in Theory and Practice of Management held at the Czestochowa University of Technology.
