NWU to play UJ in a do or die encounter

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Noble Boys will play against Varsity Football log leaders, the University of Johannesburg (UJ), in a do or die encounter on 6 September 2018 at the NWU Mahikeng Sports Grounds.

According to NWU head coach, Monde Hlatshwayo, the NWU team goes into this encounter with the hope of securing maximum points.

“The next game is a game of probabilities for us, as it has been since match day,” says Monde. “The players are focused on the job at hand and are looking forward to the challenge that we are facing. We know it will not be an easy encounter, but playing against the top team makes it more interesting for us.

“We always go out to win and represent the institution with pride, and the upcoming game won't be any different. We are going into the next match knowing very well what is at stake, and nothing except a win will see us through. The objective is crystal clear: we have to get maximum results at home,” he added.

The NWU heads into this game having lost their last three games against three Gauteng-based teams.

“Every game presents new lessons, and yes, we have learnt along the way. Now we are in an environment that needs results and we need to show that we can correct the mistakes that we have made as a team.

“We have had a very up and down campaign – results wise – but we are working towards making sure that we represent the NWU with pride and fulfil the wishes of our NWU supporters to see positive results,” says Monde.

The game between the NWU and UJ kicks off at 18:15 and will be televised live on SuperSport Channel 4.
