NWU to lock horns with Black Leopards in the Nedbank Cup

The North-West University (NWU) Soccer Institute will lock horns with 2011 Nedbank Cup finalists Black Leopards in the 2020 Nedbank Cup round of 32 fixtures.

The Nedbank Cup kicks off on Wednesday, 5 February 2020, with the last fixture being played on Tuesday, 11 February 2020.

The encounter between the NWU Soccer Institute and premier soccer league team Black Leopards FC will take place at Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday, 9 February 2020.

Soccer Institute manager Vuyo Sambo says the team is ready to compete.

“The guys are excited to showcase their talent and compete at this level,” says Vuyo.

“We are going to do our very best, and of course put in a top performance for our supporters, the Mahikeng community and everyone around North West.”

The Nedbank Cup is South Africa's premier club football knockout tournament. The tournament is aimed at giving lower league and amateur teams a chance to compete with top-league clubs.

In the current format 16 premier soccer league (PSL) clubs, eight national first division (NFD) teams, as well as eight teams from the amateur ranks enter the main draw of 32 teams. The PSL teams are entered automatically in the main draw, while the NFD clubs have to play a single qualifier against other NFD clubs. The amateur teams go through a series of qualifiers to enter the main draw.
