NWU Council chair applauds student leaders

Dr Bismark Tyobeka, chairperson of the North-West University (NWU) Council, applauded student leaders for a good start to the 2018 academic year.

Addressing them during the recent official academic opening of the university’s campus on Mahikeng, he also commended today’s crop of leaders for responsible and constructive engagement with management, ensuring the smooth implementation of the new NWU strategy.

“We need to protect and value our university and preserve it for generations to come. I also wish to commend the student leaders who stood firm after the 2015 student unrest, ensuring stability and prioritising the core business of the university,” he added.

Dr Tyobeka is a former student leader and Student Representative Council president of the campus in Mahikeng. He obtained the degrees BScEd (1999) and MSc (2001) at the former University of North West.
