NWU boasts one of ABSA GradStar top 10 achievers

North-West University (NWU) student Zuko Mrwetyana was announced one of the ABSA GradStar 2020 top 10 achievers on 23 September 2020.

The ABSA GradStar Awards is an annual programme aimed at recognising the Top 100 university students across South Africa, and connecting them with potential employers and business mentors. This programme, now in its third year, changes lives and gives young people access to top graduate programmes and employers they would otherwise never have met.

After receiving more than 8 000 entries from across the country, entrants were put through a rigorous four-phase judging process. South Africa’s Top 10 university achievers were then chosen from the Top 100 students identified by the ABSA GradStar programme.

Zuko, a third and final-year BCom accounting student at the NWU’s Mahikeng Campus, says he is honoured to be selected as part of the Top 10 ABSA GradStar achievers.

“Being announced as one of the Top 10 is really a testimony to all my efforts - this will open more doors for me and will contribute to my professional growth,” says Zuko.

“I hope this will inspire other young people and make them realise that that hard work does pay off -  irrespective of your background.”
