Learners win big at NWU GeeXpo 2017

The impact of the annual North-West University (NWU) expo for information technology, mathematics and statistical sciences – GeeXpo – is unlocked by the way in which the event enables personal growth and academic distinction.

This is according to Daleen Gerber, director of the subject group Mathematics and Applied Mathematics within the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences.

During the 2017 rendition of the event, more than 200 prospective students, representing schools from across central South Africa, visited the expo hosted at the NWU’s campus in Vanderbijlpark.

Apart from acquainting themselves with the latest developments within the fields of information technology, mathematics and statistical sciences, learners also had the opportunity to interact with subject experts and gain practical experience. 

Through various competitions learners furthermore had the opportunity to test their knowledge and skills against those of their peers and in the process win exciting prizes for themselves and their schools. Herewith the winners of the respective competitions:
