I am a Senior Lecturer and Chartered Accountant (SA), with a Master’s degree in Accountancy and more than a decade of experience across academia, auditing, professional education, ethics, and emerging technologies.
My expertise in accounting is grounded in both professional practice and higher education. Before entering academia, I held managerial roles at a Big Four audit firm, where I led audits, trained staff, and contributed to innovation initiatives. I later served for six years as a Programme Leader in the School of Accounting Sciences at North-West University, coordinating SAICA- and ACCA-accredited programmes and leading key accreditation processes.
My expertise in ethics is reflected in my teaching, research, and professional service. I lecture undergraduate students in Ethics and Worldviews, with a focus on ethical judgement, professional responsibility, governance, and critical thinking. I also serve on the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors’ Ethics Committee, contributing to discussions that shape ethical standards and conduct within the auditing profession.
My work in virtual reality and technology forms part of a broader research and teaching focus on the changing accounting profession. I currently teach in a technology-focused Master of Commerce in
Accountancy programme and explore how emerging technologies, including virtual reality, can improve accounting education, professional training, decision-making, and ethical awareness.
I have supervised postgraduate research, presented at leading conferences, and co-authored peer-reviewed publications on virtual asset regulation and the integration of ethics into accounting curricula. This combination of professional practice, academic leadership, research, teaching, and regulatory service positions me as an expert at the intersection of ethics, accounting, and virtual reality.
